Call for Action: Tax Reform Should Do No Harm
Thank you REALTOR® Party! Even in the dog days of
summer, and at a time when perceptions of Congress are at an all time low, you
came through to make your voice heard on the important work that has begun in
Washington, D.C. to reform the tax code.
As you know, the Senate has decided to start from a "blank slate" on
reforming the tax code. EVERYTHING is on the table - including items of
importance to our business and to the home buyers and real estate investors we
serve. At the end of the day, we are in the business of building communities,
and these communities need both Main Street and Maple Street to equally thrive
to keep our economy healthy and strong. The long tradition of tax incentives
that encourage homeownership and commercial investment in real estate are a
cornerstone of our economy and must be preserved.
The tax reform process has only just begun. And we will need you again in the
months ahead to show your resolve and stand united to keep pressure on Congress
to retain vital real estate tax incentives.
Enjoy the rest of your summer. Fall will be a busy time for the
REALTOR® Party as we gear up to advocate on a host of critical issues for
GSE Reform -- Fannie, Freddie, FHA, Qualified Residential Mortgages -- in
addition to the tax reform bills. These issues and decisions will have such an
impact on all that we do. We urge you to stay vigilant, stay informed, and heed
the call when asked to ACT.
Thank you for all that you do!
